On 27 Feb, Green Development Capability Building Action Plan (hereafter “Embracing the Green Program”) Signing Ceremony took place in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), in the witness of Qu Dongyu, Vice Minister and Jesus Madrazo, Crop Science Head of Agricultural Affairs and Sustainability. Weidong Huang, Crop Science Greater China Cluster Country Head signed the agreement.
Bayer Crop Science Joining Hands with Government Agency to Embrace the Green
Vice Minister Qu Dongyu Welcomed the delegation led by Jesus. He explained that China approved the acquisition of Monsanto ahead of EU and the US. This fact showed the support from Chinese government to this deal. China will be increasingly open and create a more favorable environment for leading MNCs in China, such as Bayer Crop Science. He also emphasized that big names bring big responsibilities. He applauded Bayer’s sustainability strategy and initiatives, hoping “Embracing the Green Program” a success in joint efforts.
Jesus appreciated Vice Minister Qu Dongyu’s presence at the ceremony. He expressed that the new company will further expand our investment and commitment to China market. In addition to our leading position in innovation and business performance, we will also set a new bar on sustainable development in agriculture. Embracing the Green Program is tailored to the green development priority in China. Bayer is happy and confident to play a more active role in China’s rural revitalization and modern agriculture development.
“Embracing the Green Program” is a large-scale non-profit training program jointly by Bayer Crop Science China and National Agricultural Technology Extension and Service Center (NATESC), also a key part of Sino-German agricultural cooperation framework. To respond to the needs on green and quality development in Chinese agriculture, it aims to build green development capacities among key players, i.e. local officials and technicians in agriculture, executives in new types of agribusinesses, serve organizations and leads in co-operatives. Based on the practical needs in agriculture in varies regions, the program helps improve the capacities in green development policies, technologies and individual planning, and also promotes the latest concepts, standards, technologies and international best practices. The program will be implemented in the next 5 years (2019-2023) and cover all provinces and autonomous regions.
